Program and Alliance Management Leader
Lauren Kaskiel, (BSc Biotechnology, Minor Microbiology, Eberly College of Science) heads Program and Alliance Management for Spark Therapeutics, a biotech company challenging the inevitability of genetic disease by discovering, developing, and delivering treatments in ways unimaginable‐until now. Spark was acquired by Roche, a Swiss multinational healthcare company in 2019. Lauren leads a team that is responsible for managing Spark’s internal portfolio assets and for managing alliances for in- and out‐licensed programs and academic collaborations.

Prior to joining Spark in June of 2015, Lauren was with GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) for 14 years, starting her career as a co-op and then rejoining GSK after graduating from Penn State in as a scientist within a Drug Metabolism and Pharmacokinetics team. After graduating with an M.B.A. from Drexel University, Lauren transitioned from the lab into a business operations role before becoming an Alliance Director within Worldwide Business Development. As such, she was responsible for managing a portfolio of GSK’s alliances with biotech, diagnostic, venture, and academic partners.

Lauren has her Certificate of Achievement in Alliance Management (CA‐AM) through the Association of Strategic Alliance Professionals (ASAP) and is President of the ASAP Tri‐State Chapter. She is currently an Adjunct Professor at Drexel University teaching Business Planning for Entrepreneurs.

Lauren lives in the city of Philadelphia, and loves Penn State and Philadelphia Eagles Football, and loves running, water sports, and home renovation projects.
